Port Maintenance Group carried out the salvage operations to lift the Southern Air Plane which crashed in Foveaux Strait on a scheduled flight between Invercargill and Stewart Island. The airplane was successfully salvaged from 30 meters.

Another difficult salvage was the Fishing Vessel “Kotuku”, a 40 tonne Trawler that sank in Foveaux Strait. The vessel was salvaged from 36 meters water depth. Both salvages were achieved by Port Maintenance Group floating crane barge - lifting capacity 26 tonne and other company owned marine equipment.
